Description

Accuracy up to 15km 1cm, up to 25km 2.5cm (experience shows that up to 40km gives a signal that can be used for ground work)

The RTK base station kit includes:

  • Raspberry PI 4 1GB RAM
  • 16Gb Industrial i.e. industrial grade MicroSD card
  • Unicore UM982 receiver
  • BY-500 Multiband antenna
  • PoE Hat + injector
  • 15 meters ethernet cable
  • Waterproof box (can be placed outdoors)

PoE ( Power over Ethernet ) eliminates the need to provide separate power to the base. Power is supplied from the router via ethernet cable (up to 90 meters).

The base can be used with devices from almost any manufacturer.

The base comes pre-installed. The base can be located 2-3 days after installation, this service is included in the price.

The available bases free of charge can be found here: map to the bases

When choosing the location of the antenna, take into account the surrounding objects and avoid obscuring them. ~18% elevation is still acceptable (see attached picture)

Installation

When ordering

Decide the name of the base and write it in the comment field, 4-8 character long word, maybe something from your town’s name.

Installation time:

When choosing the antenna location, take into account the surrounding objects and preferably do not cover the horizon.

  • 3m from a taller chimney -> not good
  • 15m from a taller tree -> OK
  • central unit should be placed indoors if possible, the antenna cable goes up to here (5m), we do not recommend extending the length (10m is OK)

Drive UTP cable to the wired internet connection point, this is typically the modem or router of the family house.

After startup the bases check if it connect to centipede server (internet at all): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEWi4wLiCoo

If the above NTRIP checker connection fails, try to access the base web interface:
From a machine on the same network/router, open this page: http://basegnss.local/ (password: ‘admin’)
If you cannot access it from the local network, ask a local expert for help to connect to the network correctly.

Calculate the base position

  1. take 2-3 days to collect data, plus 7-14 days to increase the accuracy of the calculation
  2. download the first rinex file containing the full 24h: https://gunicsba.github.io/nrcan_etrf.html
  3. calculate the exact location of the base cm: https://gunicsba.github.io/nrcan_itrf-ectt_etrf-epsg_io.html
  4. write the coordinate back to the base
  5. send an email to register (see links in 2-3)

We will be happy to do points 2-5 above away from the computer. Please contact us if you have 2-3 days of operation and send a photo at that time.

Adapters for different tractors

To ensure you select the correct adapter, the most reliable method is to remove the steering wheel and measure the diameter of the splined shaft, as shown in the image.

In most cases, the spline count is 36; therefore, the diameter is the determining factor. Based on our experience, dimensions are consistent across certain brands.

Models for which the data in the table below are highly reliable:

When do I need a 4G router?

Add an external 4G router to your kit if:

  • Tablet has no LTE modem: Your tablet lacks a built-in SIM slot, and you don’t want to rely on your phone’s mobile hotspot.
  • Weak signal coverage: The external antennas provide a stable internet connection in remote fields where standard mobile phones often lose reception.
  • Section controller setup: You are using an extra control board for automatic section control or sprayer management. This setup utilizes the router’s Ethernet hub function, where a third Ethernet cable is connected directly to the SC to ensure seamless communication between the devices.
