REVIEWS

Real Farmers — Now More Precise.

I wanted a system I could make work on my own tractor, my own way. After some fine-tuning, AgOpen has been working well for my precision field work — and I didn't have to spend factory-autosteer money to get there.

John Miller

Farmer, USA

We installed AgOpenGPS on our 2003 Fendt 818, and it's been working really well for us. We've used it for seeding wheat and soybeans, as well as tillage, and we especially like the automatic U-turn at the headlands.

Martin, Beef Cattle Farmer

Iowa, USA

I wasn't going to pay more for a GPS system than I paid for the tractor. AgOpen gave our 50-year-old John Deere 4630 true RTK guidance, automatic turns and more functionality than systems costing four times as much.

QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Practically on any machine! Whether it’s John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Massey Ferguson, Valtra, Claas, Fendt, Steyr, Deutz-Fahr, or Lamborghini tractors, the system fits. Our system also works excellently on older, simpler machines (e.g., MTZ, Zetor, old Fiat or Pasquali), as well as combines and self-propelled sprayers (e.g., Bateman, Evrard).
The hardware price covers the pre-assembled, programmed and tested AgOpenGPS steering kit — motor, wheel angle sensor, controller and wiring for one machine. An RTK/GPS receiver, tablet, and optional modules (section control, spray control) are priced separately, so you only pay for what your setup actually needs.
Yes — the kit is designed for owner installation. Every order includes a step-by-step installation guide, and the modular hardware can be mounted and wired with common tools. If you’d rather not do it alone, our support team is available to help you through each step.
For RTK correction over NTRIP (for example the free, community-run Centipede network), the tablet needs a mobile data connection — a phone hotspot or a SIM-equipped tablet both work fine. If you use a private base station with a radio link instead, no internet connection is required at all.
AgOpenGPS software, its future updates and all current and upcoming features are free. You may need an RTK correction service — we recommend the free, community-run network. Alternatively, you can buy your own RTK base station as a one-time investment.
Orders ship via UPS with international tracking. Every part carries a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects. If something goes wrong, we usually start with a remote software check and ship replacement hardware as soon as possible.

Adapters for different tractors

Measuring the steering shaft diameter with a caliper to choose the right adapter size

To ensure you select the correct adapter, the most reliable method is to remove the steering wheel and measure the diameter of the splined shaft, as shown in the image.

In most cases, the spline count is 36; therefore, the diameter is the determining factor. Based on our experience, dimensions are consistent across certain brands.

When do I need a 4G router?

Add an external 4G router to your kit if:

  • Tablet has no LTE modem: Your tablet lacks a built-in SIM slot, and you don’t want to rely on your phone’s mobile hotspot.
  • Weak signal coverage: The external antennas provide a stable internet connection in remote fields where standard mobile phones often lose reception.
  • Section controller setup: You are using an extra control board for automatic section control or sprayer management. This setup utilizes the router’s Ethernet hub function, where a third Ethernet cable is connected directly to the SC to ensure seamless communication between the devices.
